BLOGGING WITHOUT OBLIGATION

Some of you may have noticed that I haven't been around much lately. This is due to a variety of reasons most of which my friends in the blog sphere are aware of. When I have been around I have noticed that I am not alone in being unable to make regular posts. Some of my favourite blogs are even more sporadic than mine.

When my friend Ann moved recently she added something to her sidebar which caught my eye and my interest. It was a badge which simply stated, "Blogging without obligation". I think it is a great idea. Blogging is a lot of things to a lot of people but I believe that it shouldn't be another obligation, another burden to stress about. I have more than enough stress in my life.

So here is the deal I am not going to worry about what day I post a 55 or a poem or whatever else I might want to publish. I will be here if and when I can and the upshot is that the people who continue to visit me will be the ones who care about who I am and not just how often I comment on their blogs.

I know that some of you will still come over to see my next post and I will visit the blogs I like, when I have time, regardless of whether they commented on my last post so I look forward to seeing you all and I promise to post something amusing sometime soon. HONEST.

If you are interested in joining the ranks of the unobligated bloggers you can click on the badge in my sidebar to read more about it and, if you like, get your own badge

I stop by daily and hope to find a gem. The fact that these gems are sporadic only increases my feeling of discovery.

Post when and what you choose.

Excellent decision, Cathy. I believe that Ann has it right. You do, too. Blogging is fun, not work.

Cathy I saw that on Anns and was going to put it up, but at the moment for some reason I can't load anything in my sidebar. I agree with you 100%. Its always great to see a post from you whenever, and this should be for fun not to cause you stress. Its your quality not quantity, that keeps me a faithful visitor to your blog. Take care X

Hi Cathy,
NO OBLIGATION!!!
But you have been tagged again, I had to tag seven others, if you don't want to do it, no probs.
But if you do, I will give you my 'Best Blogging Buddy' award.
Alright, alright, I know, it's bribery!
:)

I do feel a bit obligated, but in a good way It's a labour of love.

Whenever you post, I'll read it.

BTW, is shit ever really going to happen on Michael's blog? He doesn't even seem to comment on yours and Pauline's any more. Does this mean you are not speaking. Or that you ARE speaking?

Cathy,
Smashin', do it whenever, no rush.
I knew I could bribe you with the award.
Mwa, ha, har!
He, he.....COME AND GET IT!
:))

when somebody sent me that BWO link, I was blown away by it and it really did make a difference to my attitude towards blogging. I have sent it to others who shared similar doubts and guilt

I will always come over as and when I can, as I always do... certainly not everyday as some days blogdom is not on my agenda either

you and your babies are the no.1 priority

take care and be well

lotsa luv ann xxxxx

A fantastic idea. I agree, there shouldn't be any pressure to blog. I read and comment on other blogs regardless of the frequency of their visits to mine.

Great idea, pinched it already!

I know exactly what you mean. I get neurotic about my blog at times.

I'm sure it's not healthy.

You're on my list I'll keep checking back.

This post is hitting me completely on the right week--when I am starting to despair over when I can ever write my next post...you have made me feel better, and I love all the sentiments here.

Cathy, I really, really do think of you and wish you all the best as you soldier through your personal life issues. You are beautiful and kind and smart, so don't let anyone take your confidence in those things away from you.

YAY! This is such a great post and full of useful and realistic information.
I don't have a blogroll so I never know when a new post comes up from somebody so I venture out manually in real time.lol
I agree with this concept 100%.
I won't be taking a badge with me cause..well I'm kind of rebel that way.lol
Take care hon and if you visit that's fine and if not I WILL HATE YOU FOREVER!!! lol

Man, I feel the same way sometimes. After a few days without a post, I always feel like "oh shit, I haven't posted in a while!"

Run on your own clock. We'll still read!

Life's gone a bit crazy here too so I have taken a badge but I have to admit I get withdrawal if I miss my Friday %% fix! Take care Cathy, I'll phone you in the next couple of days. Teabags? Who said teabags?

I guess for myself, I do sometimes feel obligated to post everyday. This is evident in my numbers in that I have more posts than the number of days my site has been open. (That doesn't count a second site, which you visit from time to time, and the site I share with Serena Joy. Oops and a small one on Yahoo 360.)

Maybe obligated isn't the right word - compelled maybe.

In any event, like the previous commenters, I will drop by from time to time and will was always appreciate your visits to my site(s) when you are able.

Hoping you have a wonderful holiday season.
