Perfect in Public

He's the perfect gentleman, at his lady’s elbow, kind and solicitous, smiling for the crowd.

She, recalling the man she fell in love with, feels a flicker of hope.

Back home, hanging his suit in the wardrobe, he tucks his caring persona in his pocket scowling at his family.

She returns to her divorce plans.

and who can blame you?

Give me perfect in private if I have to choose one or the other.

If it helps, I am an animal in public.

Oh, I HATE that.

Says one whose parents used to come home from parents' evenings with praise from every teacher, while for them I threw regular tantrums.

In my defence, I did seem to go off a bit after my sister bounced my head off a wall when I was 4.

Do it, baby. He won't change.

Your life will be more betterer if you do.

Don't be my mother, who was angry and locked for 40 years and now, at age 74, has no time for her kids and grandkids because she's busy dating guys she went to high school with. In short, use your good years while you're having them.

Wow! Just those little words tell a whole story. I know a few like that. They put on a show/front for friends, family, public. They put on airs to justify themselves. But, behind closed doors they are insensitive, tackless brutes.
They always have slights, put-downs, never build-ups -- something positive.

Lift your thoughts. Lift yourself. Remember, water rises to its own level. Be strong enough to live in your own integrity.

There is peace in solitude, my dear. Alone does not mean lonely.

when mine was good he was very good, when he was bad he was very very very very bad - at home and out --- didn't even try to pretend and when we finally separated my friends told me they could see he was horrible to me and treating me like sh**

don't put up with it like i did for years, waiting and waiting for him to become the man i loved and married instead of the monster he became

i'm not taking sides, honest, but just wondering if his mother's poor health and subsequent passing changed him for the worse

Hum, if I wasn't so much older than you I would court you in a New York minute cuz I think that you're really hot.

But if you think that you want another mate I'm sure you can find a better one than me, an old country hick with some old fashioned ideas and ways.

Still, you can take my complement to the bank, I hope it helps make your day. Bill

I don't know that there is any such thing as perfection, but love and respect and support, yeah.

When it comes to matters of the heart there never is an easy way to cope. But you get thru it everyday..
