SELECTIVE DEAFNESS

I speak,
My words,
Falling like pebbles,
Into a lake of silence.

No ripple,
No response,
They drown,

In your indifference

We're listening! Hugs!

As long as you don't drown in the indifference. Anyone with half an ounce of sense knows you are worth listening to!

I've been there, not a good place to be. Hope things get better.

Unfortunately I have experienced that form of indifferent deafness too many times; your words encapsulate the experience so well and so concisely. Thank you.

I think everyone can relate to this feeling at some point in their lives. You've captured it quickly and in a very few words.

I find that ironic in the extreme.

I agree with Travis, very ironic, but that's what makes is so fantastic.

It's so easy to get caught up in trivialities and lose sight of the important things.

You should try writing a book of poems, I'm certain it would sell. You have a great talent there.

Eeeek! I find a very usful therapy to this when it happens is to murder the bas----s, people tend to listen you afterwards - police, psyciatrists, social workers, juries.. (Wink.)

Beautiful words, perfectly expressed.

So am I correct to assume that when people tell me to "go jump in the lake", what they're REALLY saying is that I should fight indifference?

(I thought they were simply being mean)

And if we unpacked this little poem, there would be a novel of nearly 1,000 pages within it!

You must have a family!
I know that feeling but you know, you just said it really, really well.

well it caught my attention...and slowed me down as well. Its amazing how a simple photo and a few words can have such power over the reader.

Hey Cathy,

Thanks for stopping by my place. Whow did you happen to come past?

Kicking the computer doesn't work for me. Rote, try this and that, after restarting does.
