History and Hysteria

November 17th, Cyprus and the Fall of the Junta

The above link tells the story of some not so anciant Greek history.

Every year on this date the schools are closed and thousands of students who weren't born at the time and are now living in a democracy take to the streets, and whenever possible lock themselves in the university to protest past events which cannot be changed. They often manage to destroy valuable equipment in our badly under equipped schools thereby making therir own future and that of the students who will come after them more difficult.

It occurred to me that all over the world wars are being fought and lives are being destroyed by anger about the past. For me this is where the real meaning of the expression "turn the other cheek" ought to come into play. Whether or not you believe that Jesus was the son of God you have to admit he was one smart cookie. What a shame that his words have been recorded in a series of riddles that every Tom, Dick and control freak in a dog collar can twist to mean whatever they want!

So how about it world, are we ready to forgive our enemies? At the end of the day it is all our futures that depend on it.

Any day is a good day to blog for peace.

INNER PEACE

I am passing this on to you because it has definitely worked for me.By following the simple advice I read in an article, I have finally found inner peace........the article read:"The way to achieve inner peace is to finish all the things you've started."

So I looked around the house to see all the things I started and hadn't finished....and before coming to work this morning I have finished off a bottle of Bacardi, a bottle of white wine, a bottle of Vodka, my Prozac, some valium, a small box of chocolates and 2 litres of Fosters Lager, a 1/2 can of cider, a large reefer and some cheese. You have no idea how freaking good I feel....

Happy valentine's day

God is love.
He who lives in love
Lives in God
And God in him

______

That's all the religion I need.

Found in the Translation

Today I had my first session with a new student. He is a Greek
orthodox priest who is translating a Hebrew text into Greek.
However all the notes he has about grammatical forms and
Possible alternate translations are in English and ancient Greek.
A far cry from teaching school children ABC but very interesting,
honestly.

Anyway, to cut a long story short we decided to take it easy for a
while by translating the beginning of the Kabbalah from English into Greek (a piece of cake in comparison).

Here comes the interesting part, for those interested in such things.
AH HEM… (drum roll, followed by eerie but expectant silence).

The first few paragraphs of the MANIFESTATION,
which is the Kabbalistic creation myth reads like some ancient dude’s
description of the big bang. So there you go science and religion are
actually in total agreement about how the universe came into existence.
