a song

EPITAPH

Home is hell and the hearth is cold
And the only heat I know
Burns in a stranger’s soul

I’m running away from sanctuary
Seeking answers in the night
Fleeing into danger, fearing the light

Hanging on for duty’s sake
When all the love is dead
Sounds like such a noble deed
But it’s messing up my head

I’m running away from sanctuary
Seeking answers in the night
Fleeing into danger, fearing the light

We’ve talked things through so many times
Circling round each others pain
Now the words have lost all meaning
They echo their sad refrain
Not looking for solutions
Just trying to lay the blame
But whether it’s you or me or both of us
The result is just the same

I’m running away from sanctuary
Seeking answers in the night
Fleeing into danger, fearing the light

Battles fought in whispers
Just so the kids won’t hear
Add to the frozen silence
Another type of fear

I’m running away from sanctuary
Seeking answers in the night
Fleeing into danger, fearing the light

My body lies here beside you
Though my heart has taken flight
Because I can’t pick up the pieces
Of another pointless fight

Home is hell and the hearth is cold
And the only heat I know
Burns in a stranger’s soul

I’m running away from sanctuary
Seeking answers in the night
Fleeing into danger, fearing the light

Oh Cathy I do so hope there isn't any truth to that for yourself.

Recognise some of those feelings only too well.

I feel your pain. Really I do.

“Epitaph” is a somber song. The words express what has been so much a part of my life over the past decade. If, Cathy, it is autobiographical, my heart goes out to you. If it is not, my hearts asks how you can see into my soul.

I think there is no shame in leaving a failed relationship. Sometimes things just don't work out.

I also think that society unfairly stigmatizes the parties in a failed relationship.

You dear woman. If anything, I'm glad you have writing and this blog to help you wade your way through the deepest of emotional anguishes.

Take it hour by hour, when you need to.

(((((((((Cathy)))))))))))

I have just read this post and the previous ones. I was married for 27 years to a man I adored... I have been alone for over six years and everyday I still mourn and grieve the death of our marriage, and it is a death. When love dies what else can it be? I am not in the place I'm meant to be and my heart aches for your sadness, because only someone going through that pain can write the way you do.

A long time friend of mine who lives nearby found my poetry blog and called me up to say she never realised how badly I was affected by our divorce.

Cathy if you want to talk to me, although I know you have supportive family and friends, you can still drop me a line... I have broad shoulders

lotsa luv ann xxxxx

You never heard the song before because I've only just written it. LOL. It isn't likely to be hitting the charts any time soon:)

You're right Cathy syntax and scousers very rarely appear in the same sentence let alone the same comments box!
